MEMORANDUM FOR:
Executive Assistant to the DDCI
SUBJECT: Unauthorized Publication of Classified Imagery (U)
1. The Air Force has concluded an investigation into the circumstances of
the unauthorized release of classified satellite imagery
2. In essence, the Air Force report provided to Chairman, SECOM, and in
turn to me, concluded there was no deliberate unauthorized disclosure.
Procedural errors by those elements responsible for reviewing the material
before publication in the HASC were responsible for the incident--somebody
screwed up! (U)
3. I conclude that opposed to the type of deliberate leaks we have seen
in publications this was a
regrettable but non-deliberate act and at least the guilty parties have been
located. Air Force has sent notices to the offices involved concerning the
errors and made recommendations for corrective action. Accordingly, unless
you desire further information, I consider the matter closed. (U)
