SUBJECT: Report on Trip to NASA's Earth Resources Labs., Bay St. Louis,

nrPSPnted_ One of the most interesting presentations concerned the use of the
1. ~ of my Staff and I recently visited NASA's Earth Resources
Laboratories (ERL). Mr. Syd Whitley, NASA's DOD activities representative and
head of ERL's data processing lab was our guide. (U)
2. Presentations included discussions on sensors and data acquisition
capabilities, data processing systems, image analysis software, and software
development. Basic research, applications, and commercialization were also
discussed. However, emphasis was placed on multispectral,applications.
Detailed presentations were given on several applicatons including projects to
support studies on the Olympic National Park in Washington as well as a
corridor analysis study done for planning troop movements in South Eastern
U.S. Details of a multi source modeling concept used in the study were
