DCI/ICS 85-3792
5 July 1985
MEMORANDUM FOR: Gary B. Crocker
State/INR/PMA
FROM:
Ambassador Francis J. McNeil
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Research
Department of State
Chairman, Chemical/Biological Warfare Intelligence Subcommittee
SUBJECT: Letter of Appreciation
1. Please accept my appreciation for your outstanding contribution to and
support of the Chemical/Biological Warfare (CBW) Intelligence Subcommittee of
the DCI's Critical Intelligence Problems Committee from September 1984 to April
1985.
2. As you well know the subcommittee dealt with one of the most difficult
and perplexing challenges confronting the Intelligence Community. It was
because of your dedication and perseverance that the subcommittee was able to
complete its assigned task in a timely fashion. Your sense of mission and
teamwork as well as your professionalism were evident throughout the
deliberations. Your superb participation reflects great credit upon yourself
and your organization.
3. The insights gleaned and camaraderie established during those six months
will continue to pay dividends for the Intelligence Community long after the
demise of our subcommittee. Moreover, the findings and the recommendations of
the subcommittee will markedly enhance our intelligence posture on CBW matters.
In a number of areas the subcommittee's efforts already are having a significant
impact within the Intelligence Community.
4. On a more personal note, it was truly an honor as well as a pleasure to
have worked with you on this demanding but critical intelligence problem.
Thanks again for a job well done:
Chemical/Biological Warfare
Intelligence Subcommittee
