1. Agricultural Union of Yugoslavia
a. A conference of the Agricultural Union of Yugoslavia was held at Novi Sad
at the end of March 1947, under the presidency of Emil Kevresanin. The
conference suggested the creation of mobile agricultural labor brigades,
who would fall under the operational control of the Minister of Agriculture
and/or his representatives on local Ministry of Agricultural organizations.
b. The following are the number of branches of the Union in each province,

2. Land Reclamation
a. Land reclamation over an area of 1,200 acres is proceeding in the Dreanickog
Polja and Krakarskog Polja areas of the Ogulin district of Croatia.
b. Drainage qf Lake Blata (43/K1004) is in progress. About 300 acres of land
are expected to be reclaimed.
c. A dam 250 meters in length is under construction at Vojnic (43/13338).
d. Drainage operations covering an area of 10,000 acres are proceed5 1 in
the Jelas Polje area. (Kobas-Dubocac canal)

A pumping station, equipped with two pumps (total capacity 4,000
liters per second) is operating at Dubooac (48/G0313) near Brod.
3. Sugar Beet Industry
Eighty hectares of sugar beet and 20 hectares of sugar beet will be cultivated
this year in the Slovenska Bistrica area and Konja respectively. Produce will
be sent to the regional sugar beet refinery at Osijek (now named uPartizan").

of sugar at controlled prices for every quintal of sugar
beet sent to refineries.)
Pure Silk Industry
The Yugoslav Government is encouraging the rearing of silk worms. Initial
production target is 1,000,000 Kgs a year.
