the maintenance of close connections with the basic uni?3 of
the other antifascist parties, the S PD, the LDP, and th^ CDU,
in the fight against Naziism.
The central Secretariat of the SED has been varned by the S;:iA
that insufficient progress is being made in the rertern zones
and that every means must be employed to recruit follow'4rs and
to obtain legalization of the party in those parts of GF~rmany.
Ulbricht's trip to Frankfurt.em L ain was made in connec` i.on with
this. At the moment the main subjects of SED interest `fn the
westc-rn zones are the crisis between the SPD and the CD1J in
Bavaria and the Buhr conference. One of the editors of eu
utsch1and, Klaus Huhn, zes sent to the Ruhr area as a special
reporter in order to accompany the "'ashington conference with
corresponding articles.
