1 The Wanytyehmiao airfield is two kilometer i- west of Wangyehmiao (122-01, 46--0:5). The
airfield is 1,200 maters long by 000 raet{tra wide and has a hard. ernes covered cnrfeco
that rarely gets muddy. The airfield hat a paved runway 1,000 meters long and two taxi
strips, thirty and sixty meters wide.
There are no hangar facilities at the airfield. On the south side of the airfield
there is a weather forecasting station ttit is also used as a radio station. On
the airfield there are ten round reinforced concrete air raid shelters, about fifteen
meters in diameter and five meters high, that are effective against a direct hit from
a 100 kilogram bomb,
3. The airfield was built by the Japanese fcr use against the USSR. Construction work
was began in 3.942 and completed in 1943.
4, The airfield can accommodate medium-size 1ranspor,t planes; Super Fokker Universal
transport planes of the (? Japanese) Maactirian Airway Corporation have used the
airfield in the past.
5. At the time of the Japanese surrender, th'I Soviet army was airlifting jeeps from the
USSR to this airfield.
