General Construction
a,. There was a single-track, standard-gauge line from VRPOLJE
to SA SAC 6 It was extended via DOBOJ and ZENICA to SARAJEVO
(see Annex 1), to a to::al length o:{: 260 km partly utilizing
the roadbed of the pre,viouc narrow gauge line between DOBOJ and
SARAJEVO, which was rerouted when necessary. Narrow-;gauge
trains, however, operate only on the SLAV.BROD - DOBOJ and
ZENICA -- SARAJEv10 see-ions. It ic, not knowrn whether the DOBOJ
- ZENICA section has been dismantled.
b. The new standard-gauge linc WAS built by youth brigades,
and was designated Railroad Li'ne'..Of the Youth". Its construe -
tion was much publicized and pushed hard (fronn April 127 to
I over ber 1947). its safety was not up to requirements because
the foundations were not properly laid, causing constant land-
slides. Frequent repairs of, the subgrade were necessary.

layer of gravel.
