On 3 July all toms and traffic on the road from Pl yongtaek (127-05, 37-00) north to Osan and Suwon were bombed and strafed frors 2:40 p.m. to 3:00 Gain 5 of the attacking planes have been tentatively identified by a trained American observer as P-51'0, 2. A reconnaissance of the above road revealed that one South Korean 37 milli- L,eter anti-tank gun emplacement was strafed and the crew suffered casualties, One bomb crater was found in the road 55 feet from the gun. A half-vale further south an amumrnition truck containing bazooka aramunition was burning. One. bomb struck near the hospital at Sajang-ni (127-04, 37-04) and the town was strafed. `here were civilian casualties, 3. L1ements of the South Korean 17 regiment were strafed while digging in north of ?'y&ngtaek. There were 25 casualties, inclading the regiment l co::mander. The town of P'yongtaek was strafed and bombed, and two fires were set. Am- .rnunition which was exploded by the fires is endangering U, s. troops in the vicinity. Tiany aouth Korean Army vehicles have been set on fire along the entire len/th of road above. 4. The wing insignia of the attacking planes was a white disk with a blue border placed on the underside of both wings. The planes were of a silver color. No Americans were injured.
