The report describes movements of troops on foot and by vehicle and the equipment which they had. The report also states that it is rumored that the telephone and trunk exchange of the Soviet Army for the Eberswalde area is in the immediate vicinity of the Biesenthal railroad station. EAST GIMMAN ARMY 1. 8 Mar 57 Two groups, each of 21 men of the EGA, m:.rched at 11.30 hrs. from GROSS SCH6NEBECK towards GROSS DdLLN. They were dressed in field marching order gith steel helmets. ' Three men each had one light machine gun on their shoulder,., and to men were carrying one heavy machine gun bet-.7een them. The remainder c.:xried rifles or in Lchine ,,istcls with round magazines. 2. The light m~.chine guns are described as follows : - (a) Calibre about 10 mm. (b) Funardl-shaped muzzle. (c) Diameter of coolin? j::cket about 40 mm. with circul-r cooling holes. (d) Bipod. stand. 3. The heavy MG is described as follows:- (a) Calibre at least 122 mm. (b) Funnel-shaped muz.,le, but di ,meter less than of the light m-.chine guns. (c) Portable trait with small iron wheels (di:im. 15/20 cm) and a shield.
