The runway lies'due east of the village of JOCKSDORF, running in approximately NE/SW direction. The main airfield built-up area is situated approximately NE of JOCKSDORF. CGEFtd+1; TY 1/250002 Map references: All map references are taken from 2, AIRFIII,D OCCUPATION (a) The airfield is occupied by the E.G.A.F., equipped with FAGOTS, MIDGETS and MQOSE type aircraft. There are at least 15 FAGOT MIDGETS parked together at the western end of the apron and approximately 10 - 12 MOOSE type aircraft were parked approximately 11 500 metres further eastward (see sketch at Appendix B ~. (b) unit had 26 commissioned pilots flying the MIG aircraft. AIRFIELD FEATURES (a) Families' domestic site (see sketch at Appendix "A" The E.G.A.F. families' domestic site is baited at MR 752260, on f GROSS SCHACKSBORF. This site consists of 15 the SE outskirts o identical, 2-j storied blocks, each of which contains 18 self-contained flats. The sixteenth, and largest, building is the families' trading store and combined recreation centre and cinema. A guardroom is located approximately 250 metres SW of the site controlling access through the airfield perimeter fence. 25X1 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2010/06/08: CIA-RDP80T00246AO36800070001-6 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2010/06/08: #WET9 (b) Main airfield domestic site (see sketch at Appendix "B") (i) The main domestic site lies NE of JOCKS ?01HF and consists of five identical, brick-built barrack blocks bordering round an asphalt parade ground. Each block is two-storied and measures approximately 60 metres by 15 metres. There is a series of small attics located in the pointed roofing. (ii) The airfield headquarters block and lecture rooms is situated on the eastern side of the parade ground. (iii) Three shallow, pre-fabricated wooden huts lie on the opposite side of the main roadway leading into the built-up area. These huts are used for storage purposes. (iv) The permanenc, two-storied, brick-built hospital lies approximately midway between the parade ground and the main guardroom located on the northern perimeter of the airfield. (v) A large boiler house with a tall chimney, approximately 20 metres in height, is situated at the end of the main road and beyond this there lies a permanent, semi-underground generator station. (c) Hangar site Adjoining the northern side of an extensive rectangular concrete apron a hangar is now being constructed. This building is approxi- mately 80 - 100 metres in length and approximately 4C metres in width, and lies with its narrow end on to the apron. A concrete track, approximately the same width as the hangar, connects it to the nearby apron (see sketch at Appendix "B"). The hangar is of concrete construction, with a shallow, curved roof, mostly made of glass. There is only one entrance, this being located on the southern (apron) side, although the rear wall has two small doors let into it. The two main doors for the southern entrance lie on the ground near the apron, one on each side, awaiting mounting. A shallow rail has been let into the concrete to act as a lower runner but as yet no upper framework has been erected. (d) Airfield fuel installation The airfield fuel installation lies in a thickly wooded area approximately south of the main domestic site and to the west of the rectangular apron located in front of the new hangar site. A concrete roadway leads off in a westerly direction from this apron and fuel bowser lorries have been observed passing to and fro along this roadway. A rail spur leads down past the main domestic site and terminates somewhere in the wooded area in the northern perimeter of the site. Cistern waggons have been observed passing down this rail spur. 4. MISCELLANEOUS (a) A DUMBO type radar has been seen in the SE corner of the airfield. This equipment does not appear to be permanent.
