were observed in Xerch Strait. On a spit of land about 15 miles from Kerch,
a small artificial harbor and a. railroad track were observed; about a kilometer
from the spit, there were four or five very large two-story barracks-like

Miscellaneous Installations
5. Behind the Chardak (sic) light, there were three/6-inch guns, and a network
of ground and air radar. Close by wore small, camouflaged buildings ard a
signal station uith the call sign K.T. or K.T.L. The sirnal tower is about
60 meters high.

Naval Vessels Encountered
A superdestroyer or light cruiserAand two tenders nearby were observed
in the Black Sea in the vicinity of FEODOSIA, between Cape MEGANON and
Cape MUM, The vessels were about 7 miles from
the coast,

110-120 meters long, single-stacked, and had two gun turrets forward and
one aft. A small tripod mast forward of the stack, and a round mass at
the base of the small mast above the forebridge were noted. Abaft the
stack and as far as the stern turret, the deck is level, and on it
noted a round mass, as shown on attached sketch, covered with tarpaulin
tied down with ropes.
The two tenders were closer to shore, and
iihey were ordinary supply vessels, about 80 meters long.
A submarine was observed surfacing near the superdestroyer
The submarine's silhouette is shown ori attached sketch. It appeared
to be unarmed, and its deck was very flat and rose about one meter above
water. The conning tower was located forward of midship. Its length

towing by means of a long steel cable a very small float which was hardly
visible in the vessel's wake.

covered materiel and some nets at the stern. The fishing vessels did not
have any equipment for trawling.

Black Sea, a naval supply vessel of about 800-1,000 tons gross and 70-80
meters long, was observed in the distance with a crane working over the
starboard. No other details were noted owing to the distance.

On pier No. 3 was a grain elevator rectangular in shape, about 30-40
meters high, whose undulating exterior revealed that it contained 11 bins
along its length, and 7 along its width.
At pier No. 6 was seen a steel floating dock about 100 meters long.

The area shown on the accompanying sketch is restricted to navigation
and used by Soviet naval vessels for exercises.
Ports Along the Coast of CRIMEA
, any merchant vessel can enter any port on
the southern coast of CRIMEA by first informing the harbor commandant,
stating time and date of arrival and reason for visit.

lined with metallic nets. At the end of the channel is a round buoy with
a green light, which serves as entrance light (letter A on sketch).

The green light of the northern entrance is located at the head of
the northern breakwater (letter C on sketch).
The red light of the northern entrance is located at the head of
the southern breakwater (letter D on sketch).
On the southern breakwater is located another red light (letter E
on sketch). The corresponding green light is on a round buoy (letter F
on sketch).
A masonry building houses the coal weighing scale (letter G on
sketch). It is located near a beach, indicated by broken lines on the
