Subject: Hungary- The existence in Balatonfured of a regiment of artillery At Balatonflured only one regiment of artillery is known to be present, and the regiment was constituted in 1950/51 at Balatonfured and which was stationed at the time at Sanatorio Margit. Successively, there appeared near Csopak (at the crossing of the roads for Balatonkovesd, Csopak-Csakanyhegy) some barracks and huts where the above regiment was stationed, In October 1952, the same regiment was transferred to Cegled and incorporated in the 30th Art. Div. This camp became a training camp for the police. The camp in question still exists: on a part of it there has been erected a rest home for the members of the police. We may rule out the assumption that the artillery regiment has been ~F or is about to be re-transferred to Balatonfured, 3[ artillery troops have been observed in the neighborhood of Balatonfured, the temporary lodgings must certainly be for the summer maneuvers for artillery units of Veszprem or Papa. C. SECRET Subject: Hungary-concerning the transfer in Chechoslovakia, for administrative purposes, of the 7th Mechanized Division of Esztergom. All the units of the 7th Moto-mechanized division are at the present time on summer maneuvers in the Pilis Mountains and are alternating on the firing range of Piliscs4b-Pilisvorosvar. At the present time there have been no exercises in collaboration with the Czechoslovaks units. The new barracks of LENTI are located on the National highway lenti-Nova, at about 3Km to the northeast of Nova, near the crossroads LentiSzombathely. (Military Post) No. 5677 An independent infantry artillery group which is directly subordinate to the Headquarters of the 17th Infantry Div. to TAB.
