As of 29 June, there were 33 outstanding advances with a dollar value of $18,800. Main Finance has commended ODP for no delinquent advances over 90 days. E: I STAT Microcomputer Symposium. On 23 June, attended STAT the 22nd Annual Technical Symposium of the Washington c apter of the ACM held at the National Bureau of Standards, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The symposium, titled "Microcomputer Systems: Tools or Toys," provided an opportunity to hear users, from both Government and private industry, relate their experiences with this technology. Of particular interest were presentations addressing the introduction, management, control, security, and productivity gains, at all levels, of microcomputer systems. STAT Computer Security Seminar. ISSO/ODP attended a two-day seminar on security of federal automated information systems. The seminar that was sponsored by the Federal ADP Users Group, USDA Graduate School and the National Bureau of Standards focused on the technology of the 80's, specifically, microcomputers and networking, and the associated security and privacy issues. The objective of the seminar was to identify problems and offer resolutions for the security and control of this technology. The problems were identified but solutions were not well defined. Administrative Staff Arrivals and Departures: EOD'd on 27 June for OD part-time. Applications CAMS2 (P/S) Intelligent Data Base Machine (IDM). A Technical Exchange meeting (TEM) among representatives of CAMS Division, the P/S Development Contractor location. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the status of the various hardware and software issues related to the use of the IDM 500 on the CAMS2 system. The issue of immediate concern was the block multiplexor testing status. The block multiplexor was tested satisfactorily on the IBM 4341 at the ESL facility on 12 June. It will be delivered to the P/S development facility for testing on the IBM 168. The next IDM TEM was scheduled for 26 July in Los Gatos, California. Configuration Management Branch personnel completed the initial installation of an Applications Central Library Index (ACL INDEX) on the ACL minidisk. This Index provides a ready reference to the hardcopy and softcopy documentation stored on the ACL minidisk and available for check-out from the Library. Through the use of the softcopy documents, all Applications personnel may gain online access to existing baselined documents and sta dards by linking to the ACL minidisk #ADC 117. STAT STAT Training. A three-day EXEC II Language course was completed by 15 students. A six-day GIMS II Procedures course is in progress with 14 students enrolled. New Batch Processor Arrives The new JES Batch Processor, an IBM 3083 model "B", arrived in the Ruffing Center on 28 June. Installation began on 29 June. This processor will replace the 3033 UP, which will be relocated to the CAMS2 development facility. 2. Delta Data Proposal for Low-Cost Terminal The Agency received a formal proposal from Delta Data Corporation this week for a re-engineered 7260T terminal, dubbed the 8260T by Delta Data. The terminal is identical in function to the 7260T, but is more esthetically pleasing and costs approximately $3,500. The final contract amendment has not yet been negotiated, but ODP has requested that Logistics procurement personnel begin to do so immediately. 3. Support to the office of Finance The Office of Finance (OF) Configuration Control Board Quarterly Ranking meeting was held on 23 June. ODP completed 10 work orders last quarter. The list for this quarter (July/August/September) contained 84 work orders; 21 were discussed in detail, the remainder are in hold status. Ten work orders will be completed this quarter; five will be started this quarter and completed next quarter; and, the remaining six were not scheduled due to a lack of final specifications and a shortage of resources. All three of these work orders must be active this quarter to ensure completion by the required dates. OF will be submitting a revised ranking list this week, a second ranking meeting will be scheduled for July or August when more information is available.
