URBAN WAFARE TRAINING
SULECIN, POLAND
(S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: THIS IS THE ONLY KNOWN URBAN WARFARE
TRAINING COMPLEX IN POLAND.
THP SOUTHWESTERN PORTION OF SULECIN TRAINING AREA.
IT CONSISTS OF AT LEAST 30 BUILDINGS AND A SHORT
(APPROXIMATELY 220 METERS) RAILROAD LINE. EIGHT PIECES OF
ROLLING STOCK WERE ON THE RAIL LINE. AT LEAST THREE POSSIBLE
OT-64 ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIERS (APC), SEVERAL TRUCKS AND A
BUS WERE PARKED NEAR BUILDINGS OR ON THE STREETS. TWO BMP APC
WERE APPROACHING THE RAIL AREA FROM THE NORTH. ELEMENTS OF A
POLISH TANK COMPANY AND A POLISH MECHANIZED INFANTRY BATTALION
WERE NEAR THE SOUTHEAST EDGE OF THE URBAN WARFARE TRAINING
INSTALLATION. THE COMPLEX WAS CONSTRUCTED BETWEEN LATE 1977
AND JULY 1980, WHEN IT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETE. IT IS IN
TRAINING COMPLEX AT SULECIN TRAINING AREA 404
