1. SIGNIFICANCE:
THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS A NEWLY IDENTIFIED ARMOR TRAINING AREA AND
A NEWLY IDENTIFIED TANK PARK.
2. LOCATION:
THE ARMOR TRAINING AREA IS LOCATED AT LAI CAC 10.5 NM WSW OF NINH BINH
AT UTM WH856367. THE TANK PARK IS LOCATED AT DONG DAM, 8.5 NM SSE OF HOA LAC
AT UTM WJ576050.
3. BACKGROUND:
TANKS OF THIS TYPE HAVE BEEN OBSERVED IN NORTH VIETNAM IN THE PAST,
USUALLY IN THE ARMOR TRAINING AREA AROUND VINH YEN. THIS IS THE FIRST
OBSERVATION OF TANKS AT THE DONG DAM FACILITY.
4. MISSION READOUT:
PHOTOGRAPHY OF REVEALS A NEW ARMOR TRAINING 25X1
AREA AT 2013N 10549E CONTAINING ONE T-34 TANK AND TWO POSSIBLE T-34 TANKS PARKED
IN REVETMENTS ALONG A TANK TRAIL. THE AREA CONSISTS OF CIRCUITOUS TANK TRAILS,
ONE PROBABLE TANK SHED, SIX PARKING REVETMENTS, AND SIX LARGE ARTILLERY FIRING
REVETMENTS.

THE SITE OF THE ARMOR TRAINING AREA IS SUPERIMPOSED UPON THE OLD
DISMANTLED LAI CAC MILITARY COMPLEX. AN EXTENSIVE DRIVER TRAINING FACILITY
IS LOCATED 5.2 NM NORTH OF DONG DAM.
