TITLE: nbe3=1 Evglneering (Teplotekbnlka). Increased Efficiency of a Gas Plamt; (Povysheniye proizvoditel'nosti gazostantsii) 2~z - PMODICAL., Ogneupory, 1957, r 12, pp. 533--537 (USSR) ABSTRACT: In the Wz plant of the department for refractories of the Nizbniy Tagil Metallurgical C:)mbine there was a shortage of gas. In 1953 it was assumed that the gas pla-ft. had reached the limit of its efficiency and that it would have to be enlarged. From 1954 onwards, however, the following work was carried out in order to improve the efficiency of the gas plant. i.) By enlarging the coal shaft and the bucket conveyor, fuel conveyance was inoreased from 100 to 200 t/24 hours and an additional bunker for 60 m3 was erected 2.) A magnetic separator was mounted for the purpose of catching palts of iron in the fuLel; 3.) The number of revolutions of the feed drum was in- creased from 60 to 120 per hour; 4.) The blast pressure ms in- creased from 250 to 400 mm torr; 5.) Three additional air blast a regates, were established, so that a reserve was available; 6.1 An additional air-feed pipe of 700 m A was mounted (figures i Card 1/2 and 2)j 7-) Besides, the scrubber-, water cooling- and gas blast Pyrometric Engineering. Increased Efficiency of a Gas Works 131-12-2/9 plants were enlarged. Fig- 3 shows the scheme of the new gas purification plant. The data comparing gasification before and after reconstruction are given in a table. In this way it was possible to inorease the efficiency of the ga3 p3imt o the I - 1 1/2 fold, and expenses amounted to only 10% of' those which would have been necessary for the intended extension. There are 3 figures and I table. TITLE: Experiments on the Refrigeratsion of Generator Gas Performed in the Engineering Department of Refractories of the NThfX (Opyt okhlazhdeniya generatornogo gaza v ogneupornom tsekhe NTMK) PERIODICAL: Ogneupory, 1958, Nr 9, PP. 425 - 426 (USSR) ABSTRACT: In the -an generator department of the N-Tagi lski~ meballurgiched- kiy-kombinat (Nizhiiiy Tagil. Metallurgical the gas temperAture was reduced by additional cooling in the dust-arrester and by establishment of a sprinkling basin. The figure shows the scheme of the water supply to the dust-arrester by means of which the gas temperature is reduced from 550_ 600' to 120-1500. For the precipitation of dust a wooden container with a scraper was established for the dust-arrester. Thus, the gas temperature was reduced on the entrance into the initial scrubbers. It wa3 not necensary to clean the dust- collector after each shift. By reducing the gas temperature below 3000 it was possible to replace the disconnection Card 1/2 pipe-valves by h~,draulic ones. For the improvement of the Experiments on the Refrigeration of Generator Gas SOV/131-58-9-7/11 Performed in the Engineering Depart_--.ent of Refractories of t.he NT11K rotation cooling a sprinkling-basin of 220 m 2 was established by which the water temperature was reduced by 100. The attained P,-,as and water temperaturom are given in the table. There are 1 firrure and 1 table. ASSOCIATION: Ural en ergochermet. Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summar-j modified] The study led to the followin,g doservations. 1) During the past 4 years, the greatest increase in resi5tlance occurred against terramycin-. The per cent increases were; from 46-to 66 in E. coli, from 57 to 69 in Kiebsiella, from 60 to 89 in Ps. pyocyanea, from 46 to 69 in Staph. aureus and from 55 to 71 in Strept. faecalis. At the same time, there was a considerable increase in the chlorocid-resistant strains of E. coli, Klebsiella and B. proteus. 2) There was a slight decrease in the occurrence of polymy:Ain-, streptomycin-and chlorocid-resistant strains of Staphl. aureus and in the polymyxirrand chlorocid-resistant strains of Strept. faccalis. 3) Among the older, widely used antibiotics, polymyxin and streptomycin are the most effective against E. coll, Kleb5iella and Ps. pyocyanca; chloroc.ld and streptomycin against B. proteus; erythrumycin, streptomycin and chlorocid against I Staph. aureus; and erythromycin and chlorocid against Strept. faecalis. 4) In the past 4 years, there was a further increase in the ratio of "polyresistant!' 1/2 rRANZ, rerdinandy VALENTA, Boria Hydrogen brittlenese of cadmium plated oprings. It has an.-anticholinergic0effect and should not be admiInlotered to patients auffe-r-ii-3g--Fr-o-m-g-Faue-omx, cardiac coaditionso and a ten. dency toward urine retention. It should not be administered oimultane- ously with MAO Inhibitors; at least two weeks should pass before a patient who received an MAO Inhibitor can be given nortriptyline. 45 patients were treated with the drug; all suffered from different kinds of depression. The drug was very successful in 19 cases while in 20 it had only a limited effect. In 19 U0 changes were observed. The drug is suitable for elderly patients.- The author thanks H. Successful operation is rreatly depen- dent upon quality of raw mterials which is determined by agricultural conditionc. An important prerequicite of the qxLality of hides and leather is standardization. The scope and future prospects of tDis work are set forth. TITLE: The Elasto - Plastic State of Vessels With Multiple Layers A0 _~o PERIODICAL. Studii q1 Cercet~rl de Mecanic~ Aplicata', 1960, No. 2. PP. 379-395 TEXT: Subject article analyzes the state of stresses of a multilayer vessel in the elasto-plastic field, in case of a finite thickness and considering the plasticity module to be constant. The author determines the admissible field of contraction and the optimum conditions for a multi-l&yer vessel. It Is as- sumed that -the vessel consists of n layers of s thickness each, and of an inter- nal cylindGr of s, thickness (Fig. 2). The contraction pressure V is deter- mined by the relation (1). In case of n layers, the pressure P'K aefing on the rK radius is given by the relation (2). Measurings performed In the CSR and other countries (Refs. 8 and 10) proved that the function of "prestressing" f (rj,~?Ir) is independent from the radius rj. The expression (2) can also be written in the form of equation (4), the sum'of which can b x ssedbX the "digamma" function, defined by (5), thus obtaini KI ng: p (n, K), (6). The function 1P (x) is represented by Figure 3a. The*igamma Card 1/3
