LARGE-SCALE ELECTRIC PLOWING -- Vecharnyaya Moskva, No 127, 30 May 49
The first electric fa-m tractor, produced by a scientific research
institute, was tested by the "SOrevnovaniye" Palkhoz, Mytiehchinakiy Rayon,
Moscow Oblast. The Scientific Fseearch Institute of Rural Electrification
rendered valuable technical aid in the production of the electric tractor.
The simple design of the new tractor makes it poa6ible to produce it
serially at a low cost.
At present, about 4,500 kolkhoaee in Moscow Oblast have electricity,
and 27 rayons are completely electrified. This high percentage of rural
electrification in Moscow Oblast will make it possible to use electric plowing
bn a large scale. Industrial enterprises of Mytishchinekiy Rayon have
pledged to introduce production of electric tractors shortly and to use
electric plowing 100 percent in 1950.

Zapororh'ye -- The Orekhov Machine-Aillding Plant is producing tree-planting
machines for the first time. These were recently tried out and proved to be of
excellent qua) ity, The plant has started s!rial production of the machines.

potatoes in one day. Its designers, F. P. Neetenko and A. A. $aehenteev, received
a Stalin' prise.
