Young workers at the Moscow "Hrasnyy proletariy" Machine-Tool Building Plant
have stepped up production in honor of the 11th Congress of the Komsomol.
Oa 31 March, one Komsomol lathe operator, who processes steel parts, stepped
up his metal cutting 35 percent and oompletied the norm for two shifts. Adjusters
in the brigade of Eomsomol Timokhin on the saws day tested eight machine tools
snob and fulfilled their quota 400 percent. Young plant workers issued thousands
of -rubles worth of goods above the plan during the past 2 days.

having completed the quarterly plan, have engaged In a pre-May epnpetitkan. They
bare !leoided to complete the 4-worth plan by 19 April and to produce several
hundred machine boo's above plan by 1 May, In addition, they are to put out sev-
oral new types of highly-productive machines.

f'he output of Kirgiz heavy industry showed an increase in 191,8 of five time
or more over 1940. Its percentage of total industrial prodw,taon rose fros 9.6
in 1940 to 31,4 in 19118.
Machine building is a relatively new branch of industry in Kirgiz 80.
Machine-budding plants are now manufacturing sal-cutting .chines and tools,
agricultural mashinery, equipment for the eager industry, egad spare parts for
tractors and agricultural machines.
The tool plant is doing good work and is fulfilling the year's plan regularly
ahead of schedule. However the Agricultural Machinery Plant iwxai Frsaze is not
operating eaticfaotorily, having completed only 98.4 percent of the 1948 plan.
Construction of its forge press shop and foundry should be completed. during 1949.

A teohaieal consul has been foras8 at the "EPasnyy eetalliot" Plant in
Rigs.. Several ms.tings of the council were hold under direction of Gavrikov,
oh:of engineer of the plant, to discuss innovations suggested by Stakbanovite
vorioere.
Mechanic Hglit designed an automatic machine tool which perforce tbrea
metalworking operations simultaneously. The use of We machine will increase
the labor efficiency of one worhar five time.
A paaotienl buggestion made by ?skis, foreman of the scales deportment,
will give a yearly saving of P.6,000 rubles. He invented and introduced a ma-
chine tool, with which the graduations on a steel dial of 500-kilogsm scales
can be aagraved quickly and neoeaately. Several practical suggestions were
also submitted by Besbard, foundry mechanic, and others.
During the last few months, about 30 innovations have been introduced into
production processes. The technical council he. planned a number of projects
to be developed by plant innovators and inventors.

The This Boiler and Pan Plant completed the first-quarter plan ahead of
schedule on 20 March. The plant Me already released 83k,000 rubles from the
turnover of working capital.
