The conference unanimously approved a resolution calling on the federation and its subsidiary grganizations to ,Join the SSFA, rally all writers and art- ists to study the advanced experiences of Soviet art and literature, strengthen the exchange of literature and art between the two countries, and consolidate and develop the common interest and sacred friendship of the peoples of China and the Soviet Union in the preservation of world peace. Before the votic:g ou this resolution, L1 Chan-wu, deputy secretary-general of the SSFA addressed the meeting. Earlier iu the session the conference revised and approved the bylaws of the All-China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and elected the second national committee of the federation. Outstanding writers, dramatists, musicians, and artiste including Lao She, Mei I.an-feng, and Ting Ling asked the writers and artists to show greater cre- ativity and originality in their work and emphasized the need of using litera- ture and art as a means of realizing socialism and the industrialization of China.
