(Comment: The following territorial-administrative changes were
reported in the Soviet daily press and in Vedomosti Verkhovno o
Soveta?SSSR between 11. July and 27 October 195. The dates of the
ukases establishing the changes are given when available.
Numbers in parentheses refer to appended sources.]
The Presidiu:a, Supreme Soviet Armenian SSR. by ukase reduced the number of
village soviets in the Armenian SSR from 67h to 440.(1)
By ukase of the Presidium Supreme Soviet Armenian SSR, the following
rayons, abolished in 1953 were restored:
Aginskiy Rayon, with its center in Maralik Village
Noyemberyanskiy Rayon, with its center in Noyemberyan Village
Spitakskiy Rayon, with its center in Spitak City-Type Settlement
Kirovskiy Raycn in the city of Yerevan (2)

AZERBAYDZRAN SSR
Belokany Village, Belokanskiy Rayon, was designated a city-type settlement
by a 28 July 1954 ukase of the Presidium, Suprece Soviet azerbaydzhan SSR.
By 2g July 1954 ukases of the Presidiuv, Suer-?c Soviet Azerbaydzhan SSR,
Ali-Bavra;aly City-Type Settlement, li-Bayrrn linsl-iy Rsven, and Kyzy1-Boron
City-Type Settlement, Siazenskiy Rayon, were -lesi~ cud cities of rayon sub-
ordination, and the latter was named Siazan' city.(3)
The populated point of Paragachay, Ordubadskiy Rayon, Nakhichevan ASSR,
was designated a city-type settlement by a 13 August 154 ukase of the Presidium,
Sunremc Soviet Azerbaydzhan SSR.(4)
BSLORUSSIAti SSR
By a 19 June 1951+ ukase of the Presidium, Supreme Soviet Belorussian SSR,
Ruzhanckiy Rayon was transferred from Grodnensksy^l Oblast to Brestskaya Oblast.

By a 3 August 19511 ukase of the Fresidium, Supreme Soviet Belorussian SSR,
the center of Vusilishkovskiy Rayon, Grodnenskaya Oblast, was transferred from
Vasilirliki City (Type) Settlement to Ostryna City (Type) Settlement. Vasllishki
City (Type) Settlement was ubolished and its territory was transferred to Vasi-
lishkovskiy Village Soviet.(6)
By a 16 July 1954 ukase, the Presidium, Supreme Soviet USSR, in accordance
with a proposal of the Presidium, Supreme Soviet Belorussian SSR, changed the
name of Siding 116 Km, Kalinin Railroad System, to Zaslonovo Station.(7)
Karpilovka Village (derevnya), O.';tyabr'skiy Rayon, Gomel'okaya Oblast,
was reorganized as a ci!.y (type) settlement named Oktyabr'skiy by a 31 August

Because of the planned resettlement in Sagaredzhov-%ly Ryon of the in-

Rayon, the following villages were abolished by ukase of the Presidium,

By ukase of the Presidium, Supreme Soviet Georgian SSR, Sharakhevskiy
Village Soviet, Tianetskiy Rayon, was abolished.

designated the following populated points as workers' settlements: Do-o,
Zharminskiy Rayon, Semipalatinskaya Oblast; and Granitogorsk, Nerkensfay Rayon,
Dzhanbulsl:aya Oblast.
By an 11 Scptcaber 1954 u~i.asc of the Presidium, Supreme Soviet Kaznhh 6311,
the rayon center of Erkennhililskiy Rayon, A'r.olinskaya Oblast, was transferred
from Blagodatnoyc Village to Yerrcntau City-Tyre Settlement.(13)
