The tanks had an
estimated speed of
50 km per hour and
seemed to be larger
than the German
Tiger tank. They
.had bogie wheels,
track-supporting
rollers, and tracks,
about 60 cm wide,
which were pro-
tected by armored
plates. The tank
hulls were smooth
and the turrets
conspicuously flat.
The tanks mounted a
very long 70 to 80
mm gun with muzzle
brake and, according
to the noise of the

rear and the top. It
mounted a gun of about
150 mm which did not
project beyond the bow

The depot area measured
about 800 x 1,000
meters. From 12 to
15 fuel containers,
each about 15 meters?
high and 8 to 10
meters in diameter,
stood in the eastern
section of the depot.
The fuel was shipped
in by rail and pumped
into the containers
through surface pipe
lines. Military and
civilian motor ve-
hicles lined up in
front of the contain-
ers most of the time,
awaiting their turn
for fueling. Soviet
officers were at all
times seen in the in-
stallation.

about 600 me-
ters southeast
of the-dam
southwest of
the city.
Prior to the
arrival of troops
the installation was
inspected by a gen-
eral from Magnito-
gorsk.
an AAA unit of
about 40 officers
and 750 men, in-
cluding200 re
cruits, arrived
aboard, three trains
from the direction
of Magnitogorsk.
The troops moved
into the former PW
quarters and.tents.
They were commanded
by a major..
The unit was equip-
ped with 40 heavy
AA guns of about,100
mm which were parked
at two places outside
the billeting area
and were towed by
about 40 three-axle
trucks of uniform
type. Another 20 to
30 trucks, several
ambulances, field
kitchens, tank trucks,
