The Krasnoyarsk Sibirskiy Heavy Machine Building Plant is turning out
heavy electric overhead traveling cranes for the great construction projects
and for large enterprises throughout the country.
The plant is now completing an overhead traveler of 250 tons capacity.
Its lifting hook alone weighs 5 tons.
NEW DESIGN REDUCES WEIGHT -- Moscow, Vechernyaya Moskva, 9 Dec 52
A new rail-mounted construction crane featuring a narrow tubular support
tower was recently developed by a special brigade which was brought together
by a group of Moscow construction engineers and the All-Union Scientific Re-
search Institute of Con_truction- and Road-Machine Building, The brigade worked
under the direction of Engineer A. Kozlovskiy, chief mechanic of the Ministry
of Housing and Civil Construction RSFSR.
Intended for use in erecting five- to seven-story buildings, the crane
has a lifting capacity ranging from 1.5 to 3 tons. The crane is much lighter
than standard models. It weights only9 tons, while cranes of the same type
which have framework towers weigh 24 tons. The new design also red,,ces wind re-
sistance.
The crane was tested at the machine building base of 'he Moszhilgost-oy
Trist, with representatives from the bodies responsible for its developm..nt at-
tending. These observers urged that the crane be put into ecries production.

PLEDGE EARLY SHIPMENT -- Moscow, Moskovskaya Pravda, 11 Sep 52
The Orekho-Zuyevo Machine Building Plant of the Ministry of Electric Power
Stations has completed its first ten truck-mounted electric cranes, slated to
go to the builders of the Kakhovskaya and other hydroelectric stations. The
plant has pledged to assemble and ship out 20 of these cranes during September,
completing the orders ahead of schedule.
CRANES GO TO MANY PORTS -- Riga, Sovetskaya Latviya, 19 Sep 52
Since 1948, the Riga Machine Building Plant of the Ministry of the River
Fleet has been turning out clamshell cranes which are now working satisfactorily
at many river ports throughout the country, including Moscow, Leningrad, Arkhan-
gel'sk, Kiev, Yakutsk, and Omsk. Floating clamshells from the plant are work-
ing at the site of the Kuybyshevskaya GES Since the opening of the Volga-Don
canal, the plant's cranes have been performing loading operations at Rostov-on-
Don. A clamshell was recently sent to the builders of the Main Turkmen Canal.

The Aral'sk Shipbuilding Yard has shipped a floating crane to the Main
Turkmen Canal project.
SHIP GIANT CRANE -- Moscow, Izvestiya, 15 Nov 52
The Stalino Metal Structures Plant shipped the builders of the Kuybyshev-
skaya GES a huge cable crane a few wee?; ago. It took 120 railroad care to
transport this giant crane, whose boom is 76 meters long. Shipment of a second
such crane has a' eady begun.
WIN RED BANNER -- Moscow, Vechernyaya Moskva, 3 Feb 53
The Moscow Krasnyy Metallist Plant was recently awarded the Transferable
Red Banner of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and the Ministry
of Heavy Machine Building.
During 1953, the plant will broaden its products list, turning out telphers
with lifting ca?-acities of up to 500 kilograms. Heat treatment will be instituted

The Perovo Machine Building Plant turns out RM-650 reduction units and.
winches for the high-speed elevators which are built at the Moscow Pod'yemnik
Plant.
The Perovo plant has contracted, according to plan, to deliver certain cast-
ings to the Moscow Krasnyy Metallist and Stal'most plants.
TURN OUT SELF-PROPELLED WINCH -- Moscow, Izvestiya, 7 May 53
The Petrozavodsk Onega Plant, which recently established production of the
new powerful L-19 winch for the timber industry, is now putting out a powerful
self-propelled winch.
