NO. OF ENCt_S. (LISTED BELOW) SUPPLEMENT TO REPORT NO. THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION 1. Construction of the new iron and steal foundry Nowa. Huts., near Krakow, was planned and carried out by the Russians. It has been the subject of an intensive propaganda campaign, and an expansion program for 1951 is only awaiting technical documentation froze the Soviet Union to be put into effect a It is planned to enlarge the mechanical workshop, garages and means of com- munication, and the forges and steel construction workshop. For the mechanical workshop, orders have been placed with the engineering workshops of the Union of Mechanical Installations Industry, Pruszkow (R53/ 8S), for 17 high speed lathes, 17 frame drilling machines, one milling machine; two grinding machines for shafts and holes, and 15 two-way drilling machines. The Stalin I ,tal Industry Workshop in Ponian has received orders for one circular saw', three beam drilling machines, two revolver `(sic) lathes, and two grinding machines for lathes. The mechanical workshop will also receive six horizontal shaping machines from the Union of Textile Industry in Lodz. 3. For two garages avid communications at Norte. Plans for expansion of the forges at Nova Huta have required the ordering of one frame drilling machine and two grinding r.chines. For the steal construction workshop, two frame drilling machines were ordered from the Union of Mechanical Installations Industry; one band saw and one beam drilling machine,, from the Stalbi Metal Industry Workshop; and one saw from the Stalowa Wola Works at Stalowa, tdola (Ft.51/Q70) . 5.
