NEW STATIONS TO HAVE 8 PUMPS -- Rzeczpospolita, No 285, 16 Oct 49
The technical division of the water supply and sewerage system is
planning the construction of a permanent river pump station in Czerniakowo
on the site of the previous pump station destroyed during the war. In 1945,
-a temporary pump station was pu into operation, and has provided Warsaw
with water up to the present. Since Warsaw is rapidly developing, this
temporary station can no longer take care of the city's increasing demand
for water. Pumps and other equipment will be furnished by domestic firms
but hydrometers will be imported.
f 'ktruction will begin in January 1950 because certain groundwork
must be done during the winter while the water level is low. The station
will have eight pumps, each with a pumping capacity of 450 liters of water
per second or a total of 310,000 cubic meters per day. It is planned that
during 1950, 50 percent of the mechanical equipment of the station will be
erected and 80 percent of the building will be completed. The cost of
building this pump station will be 235 million zlotys.
At the corner of iokotowska, Piuss, and Rrucza streets, the Beton-
Stal construction firm is building a 40,000-cubic-ester office building
for "Mateleksport." The front of the building willlbe finished in sand-
stone slabs. The foundation work on the wing facing Mokotowska Street
and the excavation work for the main part of the building are aL'eady
completed. Two floors will be built before winter. Sixty workers are
employed on the project; more will be added as the work progresses.

WAREHOUSES FOR WARSAW'S PKS -- Rzeczpospolita, No 284, 15 Oct 49
'Warsaw's PKS (State Automotive Transportation) has up to now been
using railway workshops in Pruszkowo to store its automotive spare parts,
etc. Since this was not a very convenient arrangement, PBS built its own
warehouses on Ziemovita Street. Today these warehouses are almost completed.
One of the warehouses is 150 meters long and has bins for parts and other
necessary equipment. Most of tpe stored parts have already been transferred
from Pruszkowo.
