If Mar 1950 DISTRIBUTE 380 POLISH-BUILT TRUCKS; RECONDITION, EXPAND HIGHWAYS FIRST STAR-20 TRUCKS BUILT -- Ostatnie Wiadomoaci, No 124, 4 Nov 49 The Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers in Warsaw has distributed 300 Star-20 trucks among different government agencies. These trucks were the first built entirely in Poland and well adapted to Polish roads. They were produced at Starachowice in the first Polish truck factory. WARSAW MUNICIPAL TRANSPORTATION OVERLOADED -- Gazeta Ludowa, No 280, 24 Nov 49 The Warsaw Municipal Transportation System carries 35 million passengers a month with a rolling stock of only 444 cars, or 45 percent of the equipment required for efficient operation. Moreover, wear and tear is high because facilities are overloaded. The transportation system deserves help instead of the constant criticism which it now receives. RESURFACE HIGHWAYS -- Gazeta Ludowa, No 274, 17 Nov 49 The 1949 construction season has resulted in a considerable expansion in the network of highways. About 280 kilometers of asphalt, and gravel roads, comprising most of the highways of Warsaw Wojewodztwo, have been restored. The Warsaw-Lublin highway, which suffered the greatest war damage, was resurfaced with tarmacadam this year as far as Gonczyce in Garwolin Powiat. Next year it will be extended to Ryki. The section of the Warsaw-Biala Podlaska highway between Pultusk and Serock has also been repaired for vehicular traffic.
