The Serbian Minister for Local Transportation, Mi1Ce Carevic, in his
report to the Skupstina on 28 January 1950, revealed that the folloxing
modern paved roads rill be constructed in 1950: Belgrade-Grocka, Belgrade-
Obrenovac (including the improvement of the existing road near Duboko),
completion of the section betxeen Topola and KraguJevac 6"1 the construction
of another section on the KraguJevac-Rankovicevo-ArandJe] ac-Lazarevac road,
the Petrovaradir,-Irig road, and the road through Subotica and Vx?sac.
According to the 1950 plan for republic and federal investment, 623 kilo-
meters of road x311 be rolled, xhich is 50 percent more than in any other year.
The above investments x111 also include 360 million dinars for the regular up-
keep and repair of roads. Several bridges x111 be constructed, including txo
iron bridges over the Drina River at L,jubovi,ja and at BaJina Basta, an iron
bridge over the Velika (Great) Morava River at Glogovac, a concrete bridge over
the Velika Morava River at Zabar, an iron bridge cver the Juzna (Houthern)
Morava at Vlasotinac, a concrete bridge at Kamidzor-Rankovicevo, a concrete
bridge over the Ibar River at BilJanovac, a concrete bridge over the Porecka
Relca (River).at DonJi Milanovac, and bridges over the Studenica, Brvenica, and
Samailov rivers. As many as 71 buses rill be added to Oblast enterprises for
interurban tranaportacion.
ONE-THIRD OF RAIL LINE LAID -- Politika, No 13477, 17 Feb 50
Krusevac, 16 February -- The 62-kilometer-long standard.-gauge railroad
line betxeen Cucale and Plucnik xas planned 1z years ago. One third of the
line already has been laid. Zt x111 be of great industri.el and economic sig-
nificance since it x311 shorten the Belgrade-SkoplJe line through Nis and x111
facilitate the exploitation of broxn coal at the foot of Jastrebac Dfountain
near Cucale.

The line will connect Toplica and the cattle-breeding district at the foot
of Jastrebac Mountain with the Zupa Vineyards, and with the Sumadi~a via i{rusevac.

LNBLJANA TO GET RADIO STATION -- Slovenski Porocevalec, No 35, 9 Feb 50
In the first quarter of 1950, a new 135-kilowatt radio station will be
opened is L,jubl3ana. It is estimated that the new L,jubl~ana medimn-wave
radio station x311 be heard at night 2,000 kilometers away and during the
d-oy 200 kilometers away on a wave length of 327 meters. The transmitter x311
have only one antenna.
Two power lines with a capacity of 20,000 volts have already been connect:d
with the radio station. The new transmitter will use approximately half as
much power as is produced by the 1,000-kilowatt power plant near Tacno at the
foot of Smarno Mountain.
