1. The "Glavnoye Artiileriskoye Upravlenie" (Chief Artillery Directorate or

(a) "Boyevoi Podgotovki" (Combat Training)
(b) "Boys Pripasi" (Axunition). There were probably two sections under
this ones (1) "Artilieriskoye Snaabsheniya" (Artillery Supply), and
(2) supply of asesunition for other arms.
(o) "Saaabaheniya Arushie" (Weapons Supply). Also probably had two sectionss
(1) for artillery, and (2) for other arms, such as infantry and ew alry.
(d) "Tokhniohiski Sluzhbi" (Technical Service), ,ertain that there
(e) 110rganisationo Planovi" (Organisation and Planning) dealt with T/O,
Tb0 and Z. preparing requests for ordering new weapons, and related
subjeots.
(f) %biliaationi" (Mobilization) not certain nhether the Artillery
had a separate directorate for wils as there was an overall mobilization
section for the whole Army.

4. The Chief Artillery Directorate was in charge of artillery and o: all weapons
capable of being fired (except perhaps for those weapons utilized in tanks
and aircraft) and of providing assunition (except for that used in aircraft
weapons). The Directorate also had the responsibility of storing artillery
and oche weapons, inspecting, repairing, and providing all weapons, and train-
ing artillery personnel.
6. The Artillery Technical Comaittee was concerned with research and development.
J dootrines were developed at the Military Artillery Academy and by the
181_.=ry Aosdeq of Artillery Sciences. The latter was established only after
World War II.
