Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/01/20: CIA-RDP80B01676R001900140055-9 THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE WASHINGTON March 7, 1961 Dear A11en: I am attaching an informal set of notes which I requested on the current status or action on a number of matters raised at last week's Thursday luncheon. Looking it over, I am struck by the fact that several of the items concern relatively less important matters on which action, including coordination, has or is being taken and which really shouldn't occupy our time at the luncheon. I feel that we should try to do some planning on major issues and limit our discussion of current opera- tions to those problems of immediate importance which may urgently require our swiL-t and coordinated action. I hope we will have an opportunity tomorrow to ex- change views as how best to work this out and to dis- cuss fully what our future objectives at the lunch should be. 6~dith my warmest regards, Sincerely, Chester Bowles The %Ionorable Allen Dulles, Central Intelligence Agency.
