A Harr scientific iastitutey the White Sea Biological Station, has been erected 7.n the Karalc-Finnish SSR.. The station?a main task is to study the prcdu:;tivity of th?~ White Sea. The station's director is Candidate of Biological Sciences Z. G. Palen= i.chkc. At present, scientists ass engaged in developing theories based on data obtained during tie firs* expeditions which went to study the White Sea resources. P. 3emenenko made a speech~on the academy~a scientific research plan for 1950. The plan, according to Semen- enko, presr_nta 142 problems of great scientific and national importance. It provides for 80 scientific expeditions, in which geologists, botanists, zoolo- gists, aylvic.ilturists, srchsrologists, philologists, and other scientific workers will take part. V, Ye.
