The Krasnoluki Ca31-Machine Building Plant (director, L. Leonov) produces
conveyers, mine cars, spare parts, hand tools, and other equipment for the coal
mining industry. In Gctober, the plant established production of Rnchines for
allaying cool dust by :nears of powdered slate (oslantsevateii).
In the first, secot:d, and third quarters of 1953, the plant won tLe trans-
ferable Red Banner of the A!1-U~rior. Central Council of Trade Unions and the
Ministry of the C:xil Industry USSR.

The Leningrad Pnevmatika Plant has completed a pneumatic motor for a coal
combine. The new motor is more ecor:omical than previous models, uses less coa-
pressed air, and is eacler to operate.
The plant has also established series production of riotors 1'or loaders,
drills, and other mechanisms used in the mines.

TEST METAL MINE SHIELDS, CUT LABOR ERPENDITURE __ Frunze, Sovetskaya Kirgiziya,

The first models of metal mine shields made at the Laptevo Machine Building
Plant are being tested at mines of the Tulaugol' Combine. The shields are for
uae with combines working seams of medium thickness.
The metal shields are proving their advantages over the wooden type formerly
used, by raising labor productivity and lcwering the extraction cost of the coal.

The Laptevo Machine Building Plant hss saved 1. F3 million rubles in 10 n;ont}s
of 153 and has raised labor productivity 1j.2 percent over ti~at of the corre-
sponding period of 1y52. Iabor expenditure on each electric mine locomotive has
been reduce3 by 90 hours, and considerable economies in labor expenditures have
beer, effected in the manufacture of purips and mine_cade parachutes.

The plant is producing wide peat-milling drums which are twice as productive
as previous types. The machine strop }.as organized production oi' the complicated
FTY, peat-gathering trtschine, which performs the work of 150 laborers. The plant
has also developed a complex mechanism for the feeding, transfer, and briquetting
of milled peat. Now, the entire process of extracting and briquetting peat is
mechanized.

roller, n three-section water-wcig;~ted rrac:rine. It is designed for use on swam
land and peat bogs.

Glavekskavator (The Main Administration for rroduction of Excavators and Road Ma-
