Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/05/09: CIA-RDP78-03642A000700040005-5 UvivrutIV I IAL Cc 16 November 1956 SUBJECT: Trip to GriffisjAir Force Baselon Concealment Vest Program. 1. On the 7th and 8th November 1956 a meeting was held at Griffis Air Force Base, Rome, New York. The persons attending were: As. Lawrence Pinnio Mr. Samuel M. Beane Ma.ior William Fulton RADC RADC ARDC The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the Agency employees with the equipment to be used in the vest being developed for the Air Force and to discuss any operational requirements to be considered in the design. 2. Major Fulton and 1r. Beane will furnish us with a report on the first vest design developed by the Human Factors Laboratory at Griffis. A second report concerning human factors to be considered in the design of such an item will be provided, in addition to a complete set of equipment around which the new vest must be tailored. With these three items at our disposal actual work can be started by 3. Several points that we must consider for an acceptable final item were established. The Alerter must be in contact with the skin so the agent will know that a signal is being received. Access to the recorder is necessary in order that a small microphone can be plugged into it for voice recordings. It is necessary that the fully clothed agent be able to remove the vest in r.inimum time, three to five seconds being suggested. The three receivers should face the sale direction, because this would simplify direction finding. Er. Pinnio stated that the control box should be accessible to either hand, since it might be necessary for the controls to be manipulated while the other hand is free to be used for other purposes. It was pointed out that the cable lengths between any two items can be lengthened or shortened, whichever is expedient. Also the "r:_ixer" unit and the"autostart" unit can be redesigned into any shape We desire, within reason. Thinner units for this syotsr will be forthcoming in the future, and we can suggest to RADC opti- ri~ir e: ze or shape for individual units. 4. It is anticipated t'zat c'.ooc coordination will be necessary with Major Fulton at Daytom and ;:r. Beane at RADC to integrate their needs into our design. These persons are cleared and can be contacted directly at any ? Ori - ''roll File 1 - ED Chrono CONFIDENTIAL 25X1 25X1 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/05/09: CIA-RDP78-03642A000700040005-5
