8. BRIEFING Gwen Pritchard,
in the office of Representative Ike Skeltoa.112,.,, Mo.), called to
say that Mr. Skelton and up to 44 other Congressmen. are scheduled
to go to Panama on an inspection trip leaving on 27 November.
Mr. Skelton, based upon his earlier breakfast briefings at the Agency,
has suggested that potential travelers get a briefing by CIA beforehand,
and suggests Thursday, 3 November, at 8:00 a. in., as a possible
time. He said the State Department is sponsoring the trip (Curt
Cutter, of State's Panamanian Desk, is the action officer), and is
particularly interested in inviting Congressmen who are undecided
as to how to vote on the Treaty. I told Pritchard that I would
check on the request and get back to her but noted that it might be
easier for members to have a briefing on the Hill rather than
getting to the Agency at 8:00 in the morning. I referred the matter
to George Cary.
? 9. LIAISON Marvin Feuerwerger,
in the office of Representative Christopher Dodd (D., Conn.), called
with three requests. He asked first for a briefing for himself on
the political reaction in NATO and the Soviet Union to recent
discussions of the possible U.S. deployment of weapons with
neutron warheads in WesternEurope. He emphasized that Mr. Dodd
had asked that he be given this briefing in line with Mr. Dodd's high
continuing interest in the subject. I noted that his interim Secret
clearance might be an impediment to our giving him a briefing but
that I would check and let him know. His second request was to
receive a weekly unclassified survey on energy which he understands
that we put out. I said I would check on that. His third request was
for a list of unclassified publications that CIA has put out or puts
out on a regular basis. I said I would check on that and let him
know.

10. LIAISON Steve Williams, in the STAT
office of Representative Gene Taylor (R., Mo.), called to request
a general pamphlet on the CIA plus one clerical and one professional
employment package. I said I would take care of this for him. I
forwarded the pamphlet to him and advised of the latter. STAT
