SUBJECT: Requirement, Higher Speed Link to Strategic
Weapons Collection Division
1. The Strategic Weapons Collection Division (SWCD), OSO is
the customer for the DIRSO circuit (cable address REUIZWW).
This circuit is currently a low speed (75 baud) tributary of the
MAX computer switch. Much of the information received on this
link is reformatted and/or extracts are made and sent via
dedicated, separate lines to NSA. SWCD/OSO has recently found
that increases in traffic volumes are beginning to cause
problems in the timely receipt of messages and the late morning
to early afternoon delivery of this traffic is interfering with
their work schedules in forwarding this information to NSA.
2. In recent discussions, of your MDCA/GOG
staff has indicated that a higher speed link might be available
on the SPARS computer switch system. If this proves feasible,
OSO would appreciate upgrading the existing link, possibly to
the 1.2 kBd range. will 25X1
