MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Administration

SUBJECT: Weekly Report
1. OC has replaced the workhorse Model 28 teletype
equipment, in use for the past two decades as o_ur primary
on-line communications terminal, with the Wang Intelligent
Communications Terminal (ICT)
2. The second phase of the Optimized Automated Relay
Switch (OARS) Project, designed to enhance existing switching
'thin the OC Network, was brought on-line at
on 3 December and is undergoing acceptance
testing.
3. The Office of Communications spent approximately
$370K on external training during FY-84, which is a 23 percent
increase over FY-83. While inflation had some impact on costs,
the 23 percent increase was due primarily to a 15 percent
enrollment increase in training contracts with commercial
companies.
