MEMORANDUM FOR THE INTELLIGENCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
SUBJECT: IAC Consideration of Certain Questions with respect
to SNIE 100-2-57, "Soviet Capabilities for Deception"
1. Attached are memoranda containing the Board of National
Estimates' recommendations with respect to both the distribution of
SNIE 100-2-57 within the US Government and the question of release
of that estimate to certain foreign governments (Ref.: IAC-M-292,
item 1). A proposed revision of Annex E has been previously circu-
lated through different channels after further consideration by the
IAC representatives pursuant to the IAC's direction (Ref.: IAC-M-291,
item 7).
2. For purposes of convenience we plan to place all of these
items related to SNIE 100-2-57 on the agenda of the same IAC meeting.
Although it is expected to submit these matters for IAC consideration
at an early date, we do not now propose to include them on the agenda
of the meeting scheduled for 18 June because of the pressure of other
business.
