the iineral Oil Plant in Luetzkendorf (.152/D80) near hrumpa in
the Geisel Valley.

a. The Luetzkendorf .dneral Oil ?lent consisted of the follo-
wing three different installations until 1945:
(1) nineral oil refinery
(2) hydrogenation plant (high pressure installation operated
on the Lercius nethod)
(3) Jynthesis plant (low pressure installation operated ac-
cording to the xischer-Tropsch method)
about 9,800 men were enployed in this plant in 1944. _Went
80 percent of the plant was destroyod in air raids at the end
of 1944.
b6 after tne -merican troons evacuated this area the Joviets
ordered the immediate reconstruction of the plant. The crude
oil distillation plant and the lubricating oil factory were
partially completed and put into operation in 1946; the synthe-
sis plant at the end of 1947. nowever, tha high Pressure instal-
lation was dismantled and allocated to the Poles, who used it
for the construction of the hydrogenation plant in Oswiecin
(auschwitz).
c. The monthly capadity of the oil refinery is 10,000 trns.
Crude oil was delivered from .iendorf near.Lann-ver ant'. from
the oildistrict at the Uernan-nutcc border until 1945. 'iter
the joviet occupation the crude oil came :nrion Listersdorf
(4ustria). The monthly canacity of the synthesis plant was
about 5,000 tons of fuel in 1943. The 1948 production of the
synthesis plant was only 5,000 tons. however, the annual cane-
city will be increased to about 24,000 tons in 1949 which indi-
cates the reconstructicn progress of the plant.
d. Lubricatinr oil, a critical bottleneck item in ..te noviet
Zone of Germany, is chiefly produc3d. The Luetzkendorf Lubri-
catinr Oil Inctory is the only nlant in the Joviet Lone of Ger-
many -'it 'l larpe-scale'lubrionting oil nroduction. Only mntor
oil is produced in the ,chkopau Luna .lant and only machine and
spindle oil in the _eitz-Troeclitz Lydrogenation :dant
