1. In accordance with NSCID-8, NPIC publishes, in the
Interest of the intelligence community, an index of TALENT and
KEW= Reports which lists all reports in these systems alpha..
betically within general subject categories by geographic
location by the producing agency. Per the reference, it is
understood that Special Register, OCA/CIA, proposes to publish
approximately 15 January a keyword index to the titles of
TALENT/KEYHOLE Reports. This index would appear to be a direct
duplication of the effort which has been going on. at NPIC for *
considerable period of time.
2. WIC has always serviced requests for references to
particular reports on a specific subject and for index listings.
FUrthermores the Center lo now able to retrieve reports based on
a detailed coding of their content by Ainicard system.
3. It is suggested that you review the basis for the pro-
posed Special Register indexing action in light of services
readily available at NPIOs otherwise we nay be jointly directed
to resolve what would appear to be an uneconomic duplication of
effort,
