SUBJECT : Poland
One of the aspects of the situation in Poland about which we are not very
well informed is the impact of the changes of the past year on day-to-day
life. The attached article from The New Yorker provides an excellent account
of current political life within Poland and Solidarity, as well as a graphic
account of just how serious the economic situation is, particularly for the
average Pole. Although it is a bit long, I think you will find it both interesting
and informative. It is the kind of on the scene reporting we do not see very
often.
