SOVIET AIDE WARNS U.S. AGAINST INTERFERENCE IN PHILIPPINES
VALLETTA, Dec 1, Reuter - A Soviet official warned the
United States on Friday against interference in the
Philippines, as President George Bush ordered fighter jets to
help crush an attempted military coup.
"As for expectations of possible interference by the United
States in the Philippines, we are against such interference,"
said Arkady Maslennikov, head of information of the Supreme
Soviet (parliament).
Maslennikov told a news conference at the Malta summit:
"Any interference in internal developments by foreign powers is
destructive, as our experience has shown."
