I. On 23 February 1251, 13 LIG-15s were parked in the two aircraft
dispersal areas of the krandenburg-Briest (I1 53/1; 13) airfier.
(1) ilixfield commndent was Lieutenant Colonel Kakuhn, (fnu). (2)

placed 7 a general in the Goring of 1251, in connection -rith the
reinforcements scheduled to arrive about that time. The airfield
2ersolno1 were ouartered in rioerden in the former Landesanstalto

quialioned for newly arriving ground ..lersonnel. (4)
2. The runway of the field Wzs about 225)0 meters long and 30 meters
wide., Its surface was built in the same way as are the Autobahns.
The spots damaged by bombing had been repaired. The runway could be
lighted by lamps. The taxiway leading to the eastern end of the
runway was built in the sprinr of 1249. It was 8 meters wide and
had a depth of 30 cm which :as filled with crushed bricks and rubble.
After being rolled the taxis/ay wee provided with a tar (sic) cover. (5)

4. From 6 to 2 p.m. on 19 February 1951 three Ia0-15s equipped with

training flights in clear weather. The 21R210E3 took off and landed in-
dividually.

6. On 21 February 1951 two groups, oech of four T13-1580 eracticed
flying. The 'weather was gusty and the coiline wee low. z_sinsle?

It was observed at 4 ?.7.1. on 26 February that 10 swcot?wine jet
fighters were boinr: nade ready for take off
of the field. Six tank trucks
five teuoke and several jeeps were soon near the air?
field. about 5 eon.. the craws of the ?lanes left their quarters at
the -iosenhof. The elanes took off at 5:15 and landed at re:30 o.m.
Two other 1:.11-15e? eisht sinele?ensine low?wins monoplanes with in?
line en:inee? in addition to four sine1e?ensino low?wing monoplanes
with radial ensinee, were also seen. The airfield personnel was
estimated at 203 mon.
8. A radio installation with four meets was Wine set up in open terrain
stout 300 meters muehwest of Driest. (9) The masts wore 6 meters apart
and braced several tiaes. In their center was a tent. Ten meters from
the tent, in the Arection of the field, was an undergroend bunker
from which a cable duct led to the field. About 303 meters south of
Driest, just oast of the road to Slam (11 53/Z 13), was a wooden ramp
with an incline for motor vehicles. On the ram was a searchliaht with
a diameter of about 1.2 meters, and truck beeide it.

9. An antiaircraft gun omelacement with four suns was about t;00 rotors
oast of Brioet. (6) The cans were stellar to the German 1",?ram AA guns,
but had muzzle brakes. The eri crows war: quartered in throe cantonment
huts near the suns.
10. Construction was not noticed at the field, -rhich was guaeded by -eatrols
accompanied by watch doss. flo markines ware seen on the aircraft.
11. On 7 :.arch 195/, 17 ;..13-1s were par'eed in a row at the southern edge
of the Drandenbure?riest airfield. (1) Four other ::IG-15s were seen
at the western end of the renway0 the planes wore not covered
with tareaulins Ihere was no flyins during the
eeriod from 2:30 to i p.m0 The weather Was hazy.
12* Two open trucks, one closed truck with a trailer, two tank trucks, one
tractor and two jeeps were standing beeido the four jet planes. An under?
ground shelter for about four mon was noticed al-out 70 meters from the
western end of the runway. A telephone line led from the shelter in the ?
direction of the airfield buildings. A loading ramp built of solid planks
was seen in the extension of the runway by the side of the road leading
from Driest to 21aue. A radio installation with four poles was 150 motors

the airfields in the soviet Zone of Germany occupied by fiOiter units

runways, The pin?point location of this landing beacon is unknown.
