P 43) was subordinate to the PS brigade headquarters rh*ch was located
in the castle at the western perinete.. of Plana (I; 50/P 55) and onmarded
by an MEI captain. *
21 The battalion in Rozvadov rns commanded by MID Lieutenant royka, (fnu),
whose deputy was SUB Lieutenant Havel, (fnu). It was organized into
five corranies -,hich were-.:tai,ioned in Diana (1! 50/P 52), U Diana, al-,out
3 km vest of Dianaberg; Steole, about 6 km west-northwest of Dianaberg;
Rozvadov; and Nove Domky (Veuhaeusl, N 50/P 43).
3. The PS corrany in U Diana numbered 45 soldiers, including 15 SNB veterans.
About half of the soldiers were Czechs. The company had submachine guns
models 48-A and 4C-B and six light machine guns, model 26. It was assigned
a border sector about 3 kr wide, which vas controlled by two or three
patrols who occasionally had trrined dogs -.ith them. Several patrols or
two soldiers each were also assigned to guard duty in the rear of the
border zone. The company was connected with the battalion headquarters
by field telephone. In case of alarm, the company was to occupy the border
at prepared positions with light machine guns; only a mall guard detail
would rerain at quarters.
4. Because morale was very low, duty was performed perfunctorily. Even
veteran SUB personnel of the coLpany stated that they would prefer a
return to civilian life rather than border guard service.

Only one infantry company and the heavy machine gun company of the
battalion in Breclav were known. A, submachine gun company, a heavy madaine
gun company, a heavy weapons company and an NCO school were observed in
Mikulov. Soldiers in Vikulov said that anbther battalion of their regiment
was located in Hodonin. Numeroua supply runs between Breclav and
Hodonin also indicated that troops of the regiment were stationed in
Uodonin. The companies numbered from 30 to 50 soldiers, as many soldiers
had been detached for work with coal mining and forest brigades. There
were numerous EM who had previously aerved with the German Arred Forces.
So The equipment of the regiment included German riflessmodel 98-NICzech

companies. An artillery unit was also stationed in Tabor, **
Comment.
Besides the battalion in Rozvadov, battalions
in Dolni Zandov? Chodova Plana and Marianske Lazne are subordinate to
b igade.
Comment. The name indicates the 10th Inf Regt; its complete name
is Jams . a eho Koziny. Czechoslovakian newspapers of 1949 mentioned
that the regiment was stationed in Brno. However, it is believed that
its headquarters moved to Breclav either in late 1949 or at the beginning
of 1950, as components of the regiment and Colonel Motel, (fan), the
commanding officer, were from Breclav
However, it is doubted that a battalion of the
