JUST NUT REV 21662L AUK. NI 11111 1. was visited on 13 May 1957 for the prime purpose of investigating the pompany's third request for a time extension on delivery of the video recorders being developed under Work Order No. 4. As reported on 23 April 1557, the con- tractor's mechanical design left much to be desired. Since that time, many of the deficiencies have been corrected; however, satisfactory design of the amplifier battery holder remained a problem which would require a few more days to solve. The three units nearing completion will be submitted as engineering models with a list of Changes which the contractor plans to include on the production models. 2. Other work accomplished during the visit follows: a. Return of a length of the 600 me. antenna east for rework. This was accomplished during the visit and returned. b. The contractor was again asked for cost estimates on Change Order No. 1 to Work Order No. 8, Work Order No. 9, and Work Order No. 10. (The latter was received during this writing.) c. Work Order No. 11 for the fabrication of 25 video amplifiers was assigned. d. Discussed the possible designs for a 100 me. antenna capable of being packaged in an 18 x 18 x 12 inch container. Designs considered were the cavity resonator, the loaded stub with reflector, the loop antenna, and the circular dipole. It was decided that the loaded stub antenna with the modified corner reflector would be the best bargain for maxims gain and, early delivery. However, the cavity resonator dhows promise of a Mgher gain but will reqpire one to two weeks additional study before adaptability could be ascertained.
