Arad atfield had an east-west surfaced runway, do taxiways were available, The
flight control station and tw9 concrete hangars with corrugated sheet metal
roof: were observed on the northeast side of the field, Four singlecstory
barracks buildings occupied by about 1400 Rumanian Air Force soldiers 250 of
whom were allegedly pilot students9 were available in the southeastern corner
of the installation,, Aircraft dispersal areas were seer between the hangars and
at the, southern ed;?e of the field, Two fuel standpipe: were seen south of the
hangars, Radio trucks fitted with rod antennes about L meters hi?h were parked
on the east side of the flight control station.
The field was occupied by 15 twin-?en:ine and about 17 singlet-engine Rumanian
,aircraft, The twin'en ine Planes were fitted w..th nose wheelr and 5 to 6 cabin
windows each. The single-en!gine aircraft probat:iy wee biplanes; Ttdin-engine
