Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/06/30: CIA-RDP78TO5698A000200030060-7 25X1 SUBJECT AREA: GROUND FORCES New Tactical Roadway Bridge - USSR 25X1 DAT' 3 December 1976 IEG PI NOTICE No. 60. COMMENT: The bridge shown below is the first of its type seen on photography. Its exact nomenclature is not known, but it is probably a S.A.R.M. or M.A.R.M. type bridge. The "box-like" objects are probably roadway sections, but exactly how they are used in the construction of the bridge is not fully understood. The number of these roadway sections indicates that at least six of the larger stacks and four of the smaller are required to construct a bridge. The map below depicts locations along the Sino/Soviet Border where tactical roAdway bridge sections have been observed.
