RECONSTRUCTION OF ONE OF THE LARGEST SUPPLY DEPOTS IN
2. LOCATION: 2.5 NAUTICAL MILES (NM) NORTH OF THAI NGUYEN AND
36 NM NORTH OF HANOI NVN ON ROUTE 1B.
4. COLLATERAL:
THE THAI NGUYEN ARMY SUPPLY DEPOT (NORTH) IS ONE OF
THE LARGEST SUPPLY DEPOTS IN NORTH VIETNAM. THE
DEPOT ORIGINALLY CONTAINED 36 LARGE SAW TOOTH ROOFED
WAREHOUSES WITH AN ESTIMATED COVERED STORAGE AREA OF
454,000 SQUARE FEET.
THIS INSTALLATION PROVIDED LOGISTICAL SUPPORT FOR THE
MILITARY INSTALLATIONS SURROUNDING THE THAI NGUYEN
INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX.

BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES WITHIN THIS WALL SECURED DEPOT HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO
AIRSTRIKE AND ALL BUILDING ROOFS HAVE BEEN DISMANTLED/DESTROYED, ONLY THE
BUILDING FOUNDATIONS AND THE WALLS OF SOME BUILDINGS REMAIN INTACT,
PHOTOGRAPHY REVEALS EXTENSIVE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE 25X1
DEPOT. TEN OF THE ORIGINAL 36 LARGE SAW TOOTH ROOF WAREHOUSES HAVE BEEN
RECONSTRUCTED AND SEVEN ARE STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION. ALL OTHER FOUNDATIONS
HAVE BEEN CLEARED AND MANY ARE CURRENTLY BEING USED EITHER AS PARKING HARDSTANDS
FOR SOME OF THE 160 TRUCKS PARKED WITHIN THE DEPOT OR FOR OPEN STORAGE. AT LEAST
60 ADDITIONAL TRUCKS ARE PARKED IN A PROBABLE MAINTENANCE AREA WEST OF THE DEPOT
ACROSS ROUTE 1B. NINETEEN LARGE CRATES ARE STORED IN THE OPEN WITHIN THE DEPOT.
