The Pai-cheng Test Range, located 11 nm NW of Pai-cheng, China, con-
sists of 3flat-trajectory ballistics ran es, a tank assault gun firing
range, an AAA area, ? secured storage areas, and a 25X1
No significant changes are visib:Le in t}ie flat-trajectory ranges or i;he
tank assault gun range, except ghat a rail spur has been built to the ranges.
In the AAA area 2 experimental 8-position emplacements have been built, otie
possibly complete and one under construction. Each of the 8 positions in
the facility under construction is below grade and consists of at least 5
elements. A fenced area contair.~ing 2 institutional-t,ype buildings which
appear to be for R & D purposes is on the south side of the AAA area.
The munitions storage area on the southwest side of the test range is
secured by a fence and a ditch and has 12 revetted storage buildings, In
addition, a separately secured, ventilated storage building which resembles
known CW storage buildings is near the entrance.
Three weapons test cells are still visible, These are used to test
fragmentation weapons, but they :have been closely associated with) 25X1
in the USSR at Shikhany and Chapayevsk.
