1. All of the previously identified surface-to-air missile
(SAM) sites in Egypt and 12 new SAM sites were covered by photog-
raphy of poor to fair interpretability 25X1
The following summarizes the SAM occupancy observed 25X1
in Egypt on that mission. 1/

2. Four new SA-6 configured sites were identified within
17 nautical miles (nm) of the Suez Canal: NPIC Site 674, 30-34-
50N 031-57-50E; NPIC Site 675, 30-35-OON 032-03-OOE; NPIC Site
676, 30-29-20N 031-59-OOE; and NPIC Site 677, 30-28-20N 032-02-
55E. These sites contained SA-6 equipment on 18 and 31 March but
were unoccupied on 1 and 10 May.
3. A new $A-6 con ite was also identified near Cairo
Airfield West NPIC Site 679, 30-07-OON 030-50- 25X1
35E.
4. Four new SA-2 configured sites were identified near Bur
Safajah: NPIC Site 666, 26-52-40N 033-56-30E; NPIC Site 667,
26-51-55N 033-59-OOE; NPIC Site 670, 26-46-10N 033-58-25E; and
NPIC Site 671, 26-45-20N 033-59-OOE.
5. Two new SA-2 configured sites were identified in close
proximity to Airfield NPIC Site 672, 29-11-30N 25X1
030-56-15E and NPIC Site 673, 29-09-30N 031-00-30E.
6. One new SA-2 configured site was identified 4.5 nm west
of Faid Airfield North NPIC Site 680, 30-20-OON 25X1
032-10-55E.
7. The SA-6 deployment in Egypt has changed considerably
since last reported 25X1
At that time there were four occupied SA-6 sites dispersed
around Cairo Airfield West NPIC Sites 658, 25X1
659, 660, and 661. One occupied training site was at Dahshur
SAM Support Facility , and one regiment-sized 25X1
SA-6 support unit was observed wit in the Al Qahirah Ammunition
and Ordnance Depot Tura Caves 25X1

Dahshur). An increase of SA-6 support equipment was also observed.
The following summarizes the SA-6 deployment.

Cairo Airfield West Area
11. In March 1973, the SA-6 sites in the vicinity of Cairo
Airfield West were unoccupied. ___Sites

658, 659, 660, and 679 were occupied with SA-6 equipment. Site
256, although an SA-3 site, has been occupied in the past with
SA-6 equipment. The site was last observed occupied with SA-6
equipment

Al Qahirah Ammunition and Ordnance Depot Tura Caves
12. In March 1973, a full regiment of SA-6 equipment was ob-
served at the SAM transshipment area, 29-54-45N 031-18-30E, and
a regiment-sized unit of SA-6 support equipment was present at
29-55-35N 031-19-OOE. By 10 May all visible SA-6 launch equip-
ment had been removed from Tura Caves and only one regiment-sized
support unit remained.
Dahshur SAM Support Facility
13. One SA-6 firing unit (4 TELs) was present at Dahshur.

deployment of the SA-3 missile system in the Bur Safalah (26-43-
58N 033-56-40E) and Wadi Abu Rish Airfield 28-58- 25X1
45N 31-42-OOE) areas and a few slight shifts in the and SA-3
defenses in the Northern Delta and Suez Canal areas (Figures 1
and 2).
15. Table 1 and Figures 1 and 2 reflect the last known status
of all sites containing missile equipment. The site numbers in
Table 1 are keyed to site locations in Figures 1 and 2.
