1. SIGNIFICANCE: A NEW RUNWAY/PARKING APRON AND A SECOND PROBABLE
ROTOR TEST CAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION PROVIDE FURTHER EVIDENCE
THAT THIS FACILITY WILL BE INVOLVED IN HELICOPTER
PRODUCTION/ASSEMBLY WHEN CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETED. (SWN)
2. REMARKS: THE NEW HELICOPTER STOL RUNWAY/PARKING APRON,
APPROXIMATELY 150 METERS LONG AND IN A LATE STAGE OF
CONSTRUCTION, IS AT THE SOUTH END OF THE FACILITY NEAR THE
OPERATIONS BUILDING AND THE RECENTLY COMPLETED FINAL
ASSEMBLY/CHECKOUT BUILDING. THIS AREA OF THE PLANT WAS
PREVIOUSLY A PARKING AREA FOR HOPLITE HELICOPTERS. INITIAL
GROUND CLEARING FOP THE RUNWAY/PARKING APRON WAS IN PROGRESS ON
(SWN)
A SECOND PROBABLE ROTOR TEST CAGE IS IN AN EARLY STAGE CF
CONSTRUCTION APPROXIMATELY 200 METERS SOUTHWEST OF THE EXISTING
CAGE. CONSTRUCTION OF A CIRCULAR HARDSTAND WITHIN A
SEMICIRCULAR EARTHEN REVETMENT, SIMILAR IN SIZE AND
CONFIGURATION TO THE HAFDSTAND AND REVETMENT SUPPORTING THE
EXISTING CAGE, HAS BEGUN A CONSTRUCTION CRANE 25X1
IS ON THE NEW HAFDSTAND, A A POSSIBLE CONTROL BUILDING IS
UNDER CONSTRUCTION NEARBY. THE EXISTING ROTOR TEST CAGE WAS
CONSTRUCTED BETWEEN MARCH AND JUNE 1983. A NEW ROAD, EXTENDING
SOUTHEAST FROM THE PLANT TOWARD THREE SMALL UNIDENTIFIED
BUILDINGS, IS ALSO UNDER. CONSTRUCTION. (SWN)
