1. On 9 July a Rumanian barge loaded with ore from Bulgaria sank in the
narrows at the Iran Gates of the Danube where traffic is new completely
blacked.
Removal work is already underway, It is estimated that 14 days will be
required to clear the channel.
3. Rumanian official circles were excited at the possibility that the barge
was sabotaged.
4. The sinking of the barge is confirmed by another informant, who states that
it occurred an 2 July. According to the second informant, sabotage was not
involved. The Rumanians are dynamiting the barge and expect to clear the
channel by the and of July.
