Prior to 23 Juno 1951, the headquarters of an infantry division uith a radio stationwas located in a large three-story buildinc with a winc and narane, allenedly a fo:naer school buildinc, in the center of laskunfelegybaza (7 7/ 0 03). It was subordinate to a co;DO headquarters in Kecskomet (Y 6/1: 95),, The divLcion mls ?emended by a colonel who had a liussian name and spoke flunnarian and Russian fluently. The artillery unit was located in the nenf barracks installation in the south- southwestern sector of Kiskunfelecyhaza, which had been constructed in day and night shifts durirn the summer of 1950 and was occunied as early as the fall of 195C. The installation consisted of 1 large four-story buil(Jinc nnarterinn an infantry reciment of the division in Kiskunhalas, 2 two-story buildinns and an undetermined number of low storace buildinns, ordnance buildinns,etc The billetinc area was surrounded by a barbed-wire fence. An undetermined number of 122-mm howitzers and 152-mm num; without muzzle brakes wmnoticod in the billotinc area. The 152-mm cline had a protoctive shield, a countorrocoil rechnnism and a recoil brake above and beneath the barrel, and a split-trail carriage, the rear section of which rested on an a%lo with two pneumatic tires while being moved. Officers at the battalion headquarter s included a captoin who was the commanoinr officer, a junior lieutenant who was the political officer, and a supply ofricer. The tank battalionvao quartered northeast of the railroad station, in a barracks installation which consisted of 1 too-story barracks building, about 110 x 12 meters; a lean-to garage, about 1.0 x 20 rotors; 1 low-trk shop and storage building; 1 tank shed without side walls, slout 20 x 10 meters; 1 low tank sorage, about 20 meters square; 1 low storage shod for AT guns, :r nuns and ammuntion, about 20 x 15 meters; 1 open storare shed for 1'1 guns, about 20 x 10 rioters; and 1 roraie for Si guns, about 15 x 10 motors. 5ttachod to the battalion was an SP ortilaery battalion, subordinate to the con%nrann officer of the tank battalion.
